At Texas Best Self Storage, we strive for top quality customer service. We offer the following tips to help you pack and store your items safely and keep them in the best condition possible. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns about storing your belongings.

Economical and hassle-free storage: As you pack, clearly label your boxes. Keep a list of the stored boxes for easy reference when you need to locate your goods. Place frequently used items near the door.

Appliances: Completely dry refrigerator or freezer and store with the door slightly open. To maximize use of space, stack boxes on top and store items inside large appliances.

Bicycles, metal equipment, and other metal items: Be sure equipment and tools are clean. To retard rust, wipe all metal surfaces with a rag containing a few drops of machine oil.

Books, files, and documents: Pack books flat to protect their spines. Do not overload. Use packing to fill out empty pockets in the boxes. Don't place boxes directly on concrete floors; use pallets or skids under boxes to prevent moisture absorption.

Clothing, bedding, drapes, and linens: Store on hangers. If hanging cartons are not available, carefully fold items and store in dresser drawers or cedar chests.

Glassware and dishes: Use plenty of packing material to wrap individually. Put heavier,
flatter dishes on the bottom and glassware near the top of the carton. Do not place heavy items on boxes containing glassware or dishes.

Furniture (home or office): Place a pallet, corrugated cardboard mat, or plastic sheet on the floor and stand sofas and mattresses on end. Keep upholstery off the floor. Disassemble beds and tables and wrap table legs in paper. If a table will not disassemble, place padding on the floor and place the table upside down with the legs pointing up. Use dresser drawers for small, delicate items.

Prohibited Goods: DO NOT STORE

  • Perishables
  • Liquids
  • Explosives
  • Flammable liquids and fuels
  • Toxic materials
  • Other items that need a controlled environment
